Influence of a Gorilla: Meet Terance Hargest
With over a decade of rugby experience across Dallas-Fort Worth, Terance Hargest is a big-time playmaker and dedicated coach, who’s as passionate about the game as he is about giving back. A University of North Texas graduate, Terance’s rugby journey began during his college years, where he competed with UNT and played for the renowned Gorilla Rugby Club. His commitment to the sport continued well beyond graduation, seeing him play for teams like Grand Prairie, and, today, he can often be spotted running the pitch with the Dallas Harlequins.
After college, Terance quickly made the transition to coaching, returning to UNT to coach both the men’s and women’s rugby teams. His versatility and dedication to developing players have made him a trusted figure in the DFW rugby scene, respected by players and fellow coaches alike. Terance brings a deep understanding of the game, honed from years of competitive play across multiple clubs, and a wealth of experience working with diverse teams. His time coaching men’s and women’s rugby at UNT gave him a unique perspective on the game, and his coaching style is rooted in inclusivity, understanding, and a genuine love for rugby.
Coach T’s approach to mentoring emphasizes not only skills on the field but also personal growth and team unity. He believes in the power of rugby to shape character and foster community, and he’s passionate about sharing that philosophy with the next generation. For Terance, coaching is more than just teaching the game—it’s about inspiring his players to push their limits, embrace challenges, and carry the values of rugby with them in all aspects of life.
We’re thrilled to have Coach Terance Hargest with DSR! His dedication, expertise, and enthusiasm make him an invaluable asset to our program, and we’re excited for the impact he’ll have in helping our athletes develop both as players and as individuals.
